Established in September 2012 and located in Suzhou near Shanghai, the Franco-Chinese Institute of Renmin University of China (IFC Renmin) is the first collaborative Sino-foreign institute to be established in China in the fields of human and social sciences in the broad sense of the term. It brings together French higher education teaching institutions and an elite Chinese university.

Renmin University of China is ranked as the number one University in Business Administration, Public Management, Economics, Law, Communication, Statistics and Sociology.

The IFC is associated with three founding partner institutions in France:

  • Kedge Business School (triple-accredited EQUIS, AACSB & AMBA) ;
  • Paris Sorbonne University ;
  • Paul Valéry University Montpellier  III

An integral part of Renmin University of China, the Institute’s objective is to train trilingual Chinese specialists with high potential in the fields of finance, economics, management, applied foreign languages and humanities. Its students are recruited from among the country's brightest profiles through a national entrance exam (top 2%). With 50 Francophone professors in residence and 1,200 students, IFC Renmin is the largest Franco-Chinese collaboration in this field.

IFC Renmin focuses on two main areas: Joint training and student mobility between China and France. The courses are designed and reviewed regularly by both French and Chinese partners. The integrated undergraduate-graduate program is spread over five years, including two years abroad in the third and fifth years at partner institutions in France.

Courses are taught by Chinese professors from Renmin University as well as by international professors, mainly from France. In the first year, students benefit from intensive French-language instruction, allowing them to take French-language specialty courses as early as the second year.

At the end of the program, students obtain three diplomas and university degrees, accredited and recognized by the Chinese and French Ministries of Education: An honors bachelor (4 years) from Renmin University of China, a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the French school where they spent their years abroad.

The city of Suzhou, known as the "Venice of the East," is one of the historical jewels of the Yangtze Delta, with more than 2,500 years of history and many locations classified as national and world heritage sites.
