The decarbonised supply chain, next ISLI forum focus

05/05/2023
The next edition of the ISLI Supply Chain Forum will be held all day on Friday, May 26, 2023 on KEDGE Talence campus, with a focus on the zero-carbon supply chain.

What is the ISLI Supply Chain Forum?

Since 1992, the ISLI Supply Chain Forum has been an opportunity for ISLI students, alumni and professionals to meet, discuss and debate on a key supply chain issue. Throughout these conferences and round tables, participants and logistics, transport and supply chain specialists can interact on their view of the profession and their daily professional practice.

REGISTER FOR THE ISLI FORUM ON 26 MAY

To continue these different interactions in a relaxed atmosphere, a meal and a cocktail reception (upon registration) will be offered to participants. Please register now: seats are limited!

All exchanges will be conducted in French but translated instantly for non-French speakers.

A decarbonised supply chain?

An approach to logistics designed to protect the environment

Decarbonised supply chain is a key idea in the fight against climate change. This approach is aimed at optimising logistics processes and better protecting the environment. Thus, companies in the supply chain sector that adopt a zero-carbon approach can not only reduce the environmental impact of production, transport, storage and recycling processes, but also improve their brand image and competitiveness in terms of environmental and corporate responsibility. The supply chain is a true catalyst for the sustainable transformation of companies.

Reducing the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the supply chain

The objective of "zero carbon" supply chain management is to avoid, or at least limit, greenhouse gas emissions (carbon and other atmospheric pollutants) throughout the production process. To achieve this, the decarbonised supply chain seeks to implement sustainable processes and green technologies, from product manufacturing to waste recycling, including transport and distribution.

How to implement a zero carbon supply chain?

The prerequisites for implementing a carbon-neutral supply chain include the following measures:

  • Using renewable energies as a priority
  • Minimising energy consumption
  • Reducing the distances involved
  • Use recycled and/or biodegradable materials
  • Revalue professional waste
  • Raise awareness of eco-responsible behaviour among stakeholders

4 round tables on eco-friendly supply chain solutions

Measuring & planning companies' ecological impact

The forum will start with a first round table discussion on the current limitations of carbon emissions data accuracy and availability. We will also provide insight into the tools available to help companies decarbonise their supply chain.

Production and storage

In the second half of the morning, participants will take a closer look at production relocations and their constraints, and on the management of industrial and logistics buildings from the point of view of managing and reducing energy consumption.

Transport and new energies

The afternoon will be dedicated to transport, with a focus on progress on the "last mile" in urban areas, the use of hydrogen and other responsible energies, and the use of tools to optimise distribution networks. We will hear from both transport players and start-ups.

Reverse logistics, the key to low-carbon logistics

The forum will close with a new perspective on recycling, repair and reuse processes. On this occasion, inspiring examples of company success stories will be given in order to identify eco-responsible, good practices to be considered in the short, medium and long term.
