Inside leading supply chain operations
Throughout the week, students visited leading companies including Sonepar, Cdiscount and Unikalo, gaining valuable insight into the day-to-day running of logistics platforms and industrial sites. These initial visits highlighted the diversity of supply chain environments and organisational models.
The programme continued with more sector-focused visits, notably in food logistics at Intermarché, where students explored advanced systems in mechanisation, automation and robotics. At Alstom, they were able to connect their academic knowledge in lean management and production systems with the realities of a fast-growing industrial site.
Another key highlight was a visit to FM Logistic’s site in Escrennes, where students met both operational teams and senior leadership, including the group’s CEO. These exchanges offered a clearer view of career paths within the sector, while the site visit - including its Autostore system - provided a tangible look at current logistics innovations.
The week concluded with a visit to the KION Group’s production site in Châtellerault, where students deepened their understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly in material handling equipment such as Fenwick forklifts. This final immersion underlined the importance of understanding the entire value chain, from production through to operational use.
A programme designed for employability
Over the course of the week, students engaged directly with industry professionals, challenged their assumptions and refined their career ambitions. This hands-on experience reflects the core philosophy of the MSc ISLI in Global Supply Chain Management: preparing graduates to operate confidently in complex, international environments.
More broadly, the study trip highlights the strength of the full-time MSc ISLI programme: an intensive, globally oriented course that combines academic rigour with continuous exposure to industry. Students benefit from a steep learning curve and strong employability outcomes in supply chain careers. The programme is delivered on KEDGE’s Bordeaux campus, offering students an outstanding learning environment alongside the lifestyle and international appeal of one of France’s most dynamic and attractive cities.
