Student housing options

An individual student flat or studio is about 20-30% more expensive. The average rent for this student housing per month is €501 with private owners and €571 in private student residences.

It is always cheaper to live in the nearby suburbs. For example, rent in Massy or Talence is 10 to 20% less than in an arrondissement of the neighbouring megalopolis. But you have to add the cost of public transport to your student budget and a less convenient daily life. So, it is always better to consider the location of your school campus and available amenities while looking for a place to stay.

Besides, you should beware of unexpected service charges when you are looking for student housing. The fees range from Internet access to electricity, heating, and hot water. They are often included in the rent set by the landlord. However, it is not always evident which charges are payable by tenants and which by landlords.

Housing allowances
