An international grant supporting the transformation of responsible investment
The PRI Reynolds and Gifford grant is awarded as part of the partnership with the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), an international organisation supported by the United Nations.
It aims to support academic work contributing to reimagining the future of responsible investment, with a particular focus on a key challenge: mobilising capital towards economies in the Global South, which urgently require investment to foster sustainable and inclusive development.
The scheme funds high-impact research projects, encourages dialogue between academics and practitioners, and promotes the dissemination of knowledge within the international responsible finance community.
A research project focused on innovative North–South solutions
As part of this initiative, Emma will conduct research on innovative solutions developed by investors in both Northern and Southern countries to address major contemporary sustainability challenges, including:
- a just climate transition,
- tackling inequalities,
- mobilising capital to support sustainable development in emerging economies.
The grant will enable her to finance her qualitative research, deepen her analysis, and actively contribute to academic and professional debate on the evolution of responsible investment.
A project structured around three milestones
Alongside the writing of her research dissertation, Emma’s project also includes creative communication activities centred on the overarching theme: reimagining the future of responsible investment.
March – May 2026
Publication of an outreach article (on LinkedIn or an online media platform) presenting the student’s perspective on the overall theme.
September – November 2026
Organisation of a discussion session with a sustainable finance practitioner on the overarching theme.
January – February 2027
Writing of a short teaching case, drawn from her research, highlighting one or two innovative investment solutions identified during her study.
