KEDGE BUSINESS SCHOOL TEAMS WITH KOREA UNIVERSITY BUSINESS SCHOOL AND THE HONG KONG POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF BUSINESS TO LAUNCH THE

"EURO-ASIA DOCTORATE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION".

KEDGE Business School has teamed with Korea University Business School and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Faculty of Business to co-deliver a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) programme, the “Euro-Asia DBA”.  This executive doctoral programme, to be launched in January 2016, is the product of a collaborative exchange between the three aforementioned institutions which prioritises a distinctly international vison of business and management, intercultural exchange and diversity, and the essential role of ethical practices to create sustainable business growth.

Catered to experienced senior management professionals, the EA-DBA brings together three elite schools of Business and Management, each recognised as top-tier research institutions in their respective countries, to offer global business executives the opportunity to critically reflect on their careers by developing theoretically-based, applied business and organizational research skills in a thoroughly international context. The three-year doctoral program is specifically designed for business executives with at least 8 years of professional experience who wish to combine their doctoral studies with full-time employment.

The pedagogical design of the program stresses a direct relationship between the participant and the EA-DBA faculty, composed of 50 hand-selected academics representing the top-researchers from each institution.  Through a combination of 6 total in-class seminars (2 in South Korea; 2 in France and 2 in Hong Kong), scheduled literature reviews and oral defences before the EA-DBA faculty committee, and through the production and defence of an independently conducted body of research - the doctoral dissertation - the EA-DBA is the chance for experienced managers to practically apply acquired knowledge and to capitalise upon their savoir faire in a supportive, innovative and academically rigorous environment.

‘Matched’ at the outset of the programme with an EA-DBA faculty mentor who will supervise and guide the participant over the duration of the 3-year programme, EA-DBA doctoral candidates are offered a one-to-one, personalised service designed to foster opportunities for academic creativity and growth, building upon each participant’s individual strengths and professional expertise.

In response to a void in Business and Management education left by traditional PhD programmes, Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) programmes have increased dramatically in number in the recent past, particularly in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Specifically designed for experienced managers and entrepreneurs, often at the top of the management structure of their respective organisations, DBAs are the opportunity for these professionals to channel their acquired business and management knowledge base, to develop a unique contribution to the body of business and management knowledge through their dissertation, and to ‘crown’ their successful careers with a doctoral degree. In some cases, graduates seek to shift career focus by becoming consultants or impart their knowledge on younger students by becoming academics themselves. Entry to a DBA typically requires a master’s degree or higher, and it is common that DBA participants already have an MBA or an EMBA degree.
