An Educational Journey into the Heart of the Supply Chain for MSc ISLI Students at KEDGE Business School

26/03/2025
Founded in 1984, the MSc ISLI at KEDGE Business School has established itself as a benchmark in the fields of logistics and supply chain management. This prestigious programme aims to shape the leaders of tomorrow by combining rigorous theoretical instruction with hands-on immersive experiences, such as the annual study trip. This year, from 17 to 21 March 2025, students had the unique opportunity to explore the key challenges of logistics and industry through a week of exceptional visits and meetings with leading sector players.

Day 1: Exploring Regional Platforms with Sonepar, Unikalo, and Rexel

The week kicked off with energy as students visited the sites of Sonepar France, Unikalo, and Rexel. Equipped with their personal protective equipment (PPE), they observed industrial and logistical processes up close, including Unikalo’s paint production line. These visits offered valuable insights into the management of logistics platforms (PTF Log) and the specifics of industrial production.

Day 2: Delving into the Food Supply Chain with Intermarché and Lean Management Training

The second day focused on the food logistics sector, with an immersive visit to Intermarché’s logistics platform. Students gained firsthand knowledge of the mechanisation, automation, and robotisation of flows, with a memorable highlight being their walk through a freezer set at a bone-chilling -20°C! Thanks to simultaneous translation by Marceau Madec, exchanges with on-site professionals deepened their understanding of the logistical challenges in this dynamic sector.

The afternoon was dedicated to Lean Management at CUBIK, where students familiarised themselves with continuous improvement principles and prepared for future Lean certifications—an essential step for anyone aiming to thrive in a sector constantly seeking process optimisation.

Day 3: Spotlight on the Aerospace Industry at Airbus Atlantic

On the third day, students explored the aerospace sector with a visit to Airbus Atlantic. They attended presentations on aircraft assembly processes and production concepts applied in the aerospace industry. This hands-on experience brought to life many of the theoretical concepts taught in the MSc ISLI programme. Claudius Charrière provided simultaneous translation, facilitating rich discussions with aerospace experts on-site.

Day 4: Behind the Scenes of Luxury E-Commerce and Cosmetics at Deret

The fourth day took students to Deret, a logistics company specialising in luxury e-commerce and cosmetics. They explored B2B and B2C flows and had the unique opportunity to engage with Mrs. Lina Deret during a convivial lunch. This privileged exchange deepened their understanding of the sector’s strategic challenges. As the main sponsor of the study trip, Deret offered students a particularly enriching experience.

Day 5: Wrapping Up in Style at Schneider Electric

The final day featured a visit to Schneider Electric, where students discovered the assembly processes for electric vehicle charging stations and the manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCBA). They then attended a captivating presentation on careers in international supply chain management, before concluding the visit with discussions involving ISLI alumni now working at Schneider Electric.
