14/01/2021
KEDGE has opened its own doctoral programme at the start of the 2020 academic year and aims to provide research students with cutting-edge theoretical and empirical research methods. The school attaches great importance to the quality of its research and the excellence of its teacher-researchers. It is regularly distinguished in research-related rankings and has received several awards for the quality and quantity of its research paper production.

A unique programme

KEDGE has been welcoming doctoral students to its research chairs for several years. With the launch of its own programme, the school aims to train research students capable of joining the faculties of prestigious business schools and universities.

The PhD programme offers doctoral students a rich and high quality education, designed by KEDGE's excellent professors. Courses are based on the latest research methods and theories and are taught entirely in English. The courses are complemented by research seminars given by KEDGE experts as well as guest lecturers from other universities or schools with whom students have the opportunity to interact live.

"The doctoral programme that we have opened this year is perfectly in line with the demand for excellence that we apply to our pedagogy and the development of our research. For its launch year, the first class of the programme includes students from seven different countries and with very varied profiles. The quality of the courses and the intensity of the programme will allow them an easy transition to a future academic career in the best schools and universities in the world. »

Vincent Mangematin, Dean and Academic Director of KEDGE

Content of the PhD

From the outset, students are integrated into the school's centre of excellence, where they have the opportunity to work on research projects with members of the school's faculty. Each student benefits from the individualised supervision of a teacher-researcher who is an expert in his or her discipline.
During their studies, students in the programme are required to conduct research work which is intended to be published in leading international journals and to acquire significant experience in higher education.

The programme is aimed at candidates with a Master's degree who are fluent in English. It lasts 3 to 4 years, full-time, on the Bordeaux or Marseille campus. It is organised in two phases:

  • A first phase lasting from 18 to 24 months, including :- training in research methods,- attendance and presentation at research seminars and the special PhD day,- the development of the research project in collaboration with the supervisors.
  • A second phase of 18 to 24 months comprising :- the writing and defence of the PhD thesis,- a presentation at the research seminars and at the special internal PhD day,- attendance and presentation at external conferences.
