KEDGE Wine School students involved in a remarkable event
The Grand Tasting, a globally recognised celebration of the art of wine, brought together wine enthusiasts and industry professionals at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris on 29 and 30 November 2024. The event gave visitors the chance to discover over 400 wines, ranging from the most prestigious to the more obscure, and to engage with some of the finest winemakers, sommeliers, and wine experts in the sector. For the nineteenth consecutive year, the Grand Tasting offered exclusive masterclasses, where experts, joined by the producers themselves, guided participants through in-depth tastings, offering insights into exceptional terroirs and unique wines.
Together with the school’s teams, the MSc students demonstrated their expertise and skill in the art of wine service, managing the event with exemplary professionalism. Under the supervision of KIRA Wine Consultants’ experts Franck Ramage and Charlotte King, the students were involved in all aspects of the masterclasses, from overseeing the quality and temperature of the wines to managing the service in the tasting rooms.
Each student had the opportunity to take responsibility for one of the masterclasses in turn, coordinating the wine service with their peers to ensure a seamless and high-quality experience for all those attending. The students also contributed to the pre-event organisation of the masterclasses, collaborating with the technical teams from the wineries and handling the temperature management of the wines, followed by tastings to ensure the highest possible quality.
The presence of some of the most renowned French wine estates, such as Bouchard Père & Fils, Château Giscours, Krug, Domaine de l'Arlot, Dom Pérignon, and Yquem, further enhanced the experience. Franck Ramage, Charlotte King, and the new director of KEDGE Wine School, David Biraud, all praised the students for their dedication and excellence, which ensured the flawless management of the event.
This experience allowed the students to put into practice the skills they had developed throughout their programme, while working alongside some of the most respected professionals in the industry. It was an enriching opportunity to experience the realities of the field, learn new aspects of hospitality management in the context of wine, and refine their expertise in a prestigious environment.
