Master of Science (MSc) Banking & Finance testimonials
The strength of this programme is its network
This MSc year was a rewarding experience after spending my first two years in the programme Grande École in the Junior-Entreprise Marketing Méditerranée. During the first 6 months of my studies, I was able to deepen the theoretical knowledge that I started to study during my gap year (6 months Auditing Major Accounts, 6 months in M & A in a pharmaceutical company). The opportunity to work with students who have had various professional experiences, participation in ESG conferences and the quality of the teaching staff quickly improve my profile. I finished my programme with an internship in ECM. To date, I use the know-how and skills I learned during the MSc at BRED Banque Populaire on a daily basis in the transfer-transmission business with SMEs. I am still in touch with the members of my class and it is always a pleasure to meet and share our experiences
because the strength of this program is its network.”
Practical applications and research tools
“This MSc has developed my knowledge of finance theory with practical applications and research tools. The facilities and equipment used on the programme are of the highest standard, giving me access to the most innovative tools available. This includes a dedicated Reuters trading room facility and a range of databases. I have developed my knowledge and understanding of corporate finance, financial markets and how they impact on decision-making finance. The programme also contains a strong quantitative content with practical applications. As part of the programme, I had also the opportunity to complete the AMF Certification (French Financial Authority) – an industry-recognized professional qualification.”
Technical skills
“At the end of a university course (bac+5) I was looking for additional training, provided by external speakers and in English, to better understand the expectations of companies. After two internships lasting 6 months in structured finance and merger acquisition, I joined Crédit Agricole Régions Investissement as a private equity analyst. This MSc has perfectly met my expectations, bringing me the technical skills necessary to access a first position in Corporate Finance.”
The opportunity to deepen my theoretical knowledge
Having graduating already with a Master in business law from the University of Strasbourg, adding the KEDGE MSc to my education gave me the opportunity to deepen my theoretical knowledge thanks to the diversity and innovation offered during the programme and to the quality of the speakers. Thank to the MSc I performed better on financial issues in my first job in the market activities of Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale. After my success at the three levels of the CFA Programme, I had the opportunity to join the Crédit Mutuel Federative Bank in order to support and analyse external growth projects within the Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale.
Multicultural exchanges with students from all backgrounds
“One of the strengths of this MSc is to access lectures given by industry professionals and to directly discuss with them. Our employability is reinforced. Another asset of the program is rich multicultural exchange with students from all backgrounds. After my internship at Crédit Mutuel CIC BECM, I had the chance to be offered a permanent contract. Being graduated from a MSc is an advantage for my future career within the group thanks to its recognition and international scale.”
An invaluable experience
I was first attracted by the curriculum that seemed very much aligned with the set of practical and theoretical skills I was looking for. Also, the fact that KEDGE was already a well reputable institution within the French system assured me of the quality of academia.
Indeed, the faculty strongly encouraged me to develop my curiosity and taught me how to think for myself rather than learn without understanding. The emphasis is put on teamwork within each subject (mostly case studies, presentations etc.) which mimics working later in any company or organisation. Division of responsibilities, strategic alignment of group’s goals and psychological dynamics between group members are the soft skills acquired in that manner.
Born and raised in Zagreb (Croatia), I went back after my studies where I currently work as an Investment Banking Associate in the company InterCapital, the largest independent financial services group in Croatia.
An international opportunity
After an undergraduate degree in business administration with two years abroad, I wanted to pursue a specialisation in corporate finance while continuing my international career. The MSc Corporate Finance at KEDGE Business School was the perfect match for my aspirations, offering a range of courses covering all areas from Private Equity to financial modelling as well as M&A. The commitment and expertise of the professors paired with the contribution of many external professionals have allowed me to consolidate my financial fundamentals while exploring the full range of professions in this complex industry (Bankers, Lawyers, Auditors etc...). Thanks to the strong practical approach of the master's programme, I was able to directly apply the theoretical concepts to real business cases, which allowed me to gain experience and confidence before joining a company at the end of the MSc Corporate Finance.
I started my career as a Venture Capital analyst at the BPCE group before being recruited by PRAMEX International, a French boutique part of BPCE group (ex-Natixis) specialised in cross border acquisition, divestiture and equity restructuring. Based in New York, I'm now advising Mid-Caps French companies in their external growth project in the North American continent from the search of potential targets/buyers to the completion of the transaction.
Academic expertise and international opportunities
"After graduating from a bachelor’s degree in business administration in Latvia and spending over 2 years abroad with the EBP International programme at KEDGE Business School, I wanted to specialise in corporate finance while furthering my international career. The MSc Corporate Finance offered by KEDGE perfectly matched this ambition, while allowing me to pursue my studies at a school that has made me grow.
On a purely pedagogical level, this year was a real learning opportunity. Courses were diversified, engaging and relevant to the real issues facing the financial sector. Classes were given by professionals in private equity, venture capital, asset management, M&A and economists. I benefited from highly technical and specialised training, backed up by a constantly involved, enthusiastic and knowledgeable professors. As a result, I came into job interviews feeling confident and fully armed technically.
I also enjoyed the richness of multicultural exchanges with students from all backgrounds, allowing us to learn from each other and combine our knowledge and backgrounds, which is a real strength.
Thanks to the strong practical approach of the MSc programme, I was able to apply theoretical concepts directly to real-life business cases, which helped me gain experience prior to joining a company at the end of the MSc Corporate Finance.
I started my career as a Private Equity Auditor at EY Luxembourg before joining Deloitte in Financial Modelling & Project Finance. Based in Paris, I currently assist companies with their decision-making, in a variety of contexts including M&A transactions, fund-raising, refinancing, responding to calls for tender, IPOs, and put into practice on a daily basis the know-how and skills I learnt during my last year of studies».
Acquiring financial and extra-financial skills
The MSc Corporate Finance not only enabled me to deepen my knowledge of business management, but provided me with the expertise and techniques needed to support companies of all sizes in their decision-making processes, particularly in terms of financing (Banking, VC, M&A, Crowdfunding, etc.).
The classes taught in English and the diversity of nationalities within the programme have also enabled me to develop my adaptability and reach a level of professional English that is indispensable in today's internationally-oriented economic and financial environment.
The courses, seminars and conferences all taught by professionals allow us to challenge and perfect our skills, while preparing us for the world of work and enriching our network.
After an internship in venture capital with BPMED, I joined Mortier & Associés as a Transaction Services Consultant, where I apply all the financial and extra-financial skills acquired during my studies.
A future in green finance
Wanting a change of career from being an engineer in the energy sector, Jeremy later decided he wanted a career in finance. He chose the Corporate Finance programme to help him build his professional network in Europe specifically in the renewable energy sector. He enjoyed the course curriculum, the real-life case studies it offered and working with professionals. After completing the MSc Corporate Finance programme in Marseille, Jeremy joined an Australian renewable energy company Fortescue Future Industries working as a Senior Commercial Analyst. His job is to analyse and provide insights on financials and market, ultimately help the company to build a portfolio of green energy assets in Europe.
A promising future
I decided on a dual Banking & Finance degree whilst studying for a Programme Grande Ecole at KEDGE Business School to broaden my knowledge in Corporate Finance, Equity and Fixed-Income Valuation, Portfolio Construction & Asset Management, International Finance, Risk Management etc.
Passionate about the intricacies of financial markets and the liveliness of client-facing roles, I am currently completing my final year internship as an FX & Interest Rates Derivatives Sales Assistant at SGCIB Lille’s trading desk specialised in Corporate Clients. I am involved in pricing derivative products, preparing client pitches, monitoring risk management tools, discussing financial solutions with internal/ external partners, writing market reviews etc.
Thanks to this captivating experience, I’ve learnt and grown a lot, personally and professionally, with the help and support of a great team. The job is fascinating as it embraces analytical, technical and sales’ areas of competence. In this sense, it is very complete and fulfilling.
Learn from world-class professionals
I chose to study for an MSc in Banking & Finance to deepen my skills within the banking industry. I wanted a programme that balanced theory with practical learning with the possibility to work in an international environment.
I am passionate about the finance complex world and particularly by the practices of asset management and market research. As part of my undergraduate internship, I had the opportunity to work in a Peruvian consulting and finance group within the Business Consulting and Corporate Finance department.
For me, the highlight of this programme is being able to learn from top professionals from the financial industry.
