MSc International Sport & Event Management alumni: what have they become?
For this conference, 3 alumni of the MSc with prestigious backgrounds shared their experience and exchanged on their vision on the current issues of international sport.
Among the speakers:
- Stéphane Morel, Deputy CEO of the French Tennis Federation - Roland Garros
Stéphane Morel discussed the evolution of the Roland Garros site with the students and what it implies for the tournament and the RG brand. More specifically, he spoke about the Porte d'Auteuil tournament, at a turning point in its history with the drastic change of its site and the evolution of its business model (new spaces, sale of products not related to Roland Garros, rental of space).
- Benjamin Causse, Senior Vice President in charge of the sales department for Deltatre
Benjamin Causse then spoke about the problems linked to the fundamental change in the sports industry following the arrival of new technologies. For almost 35 years, Deltatre has been working with sports companies and clubs around the world on website design, online visual content management and dedicated statistics. Juventus, Bayern Munich and the Superbowl are just some of the prestigious clients that testify to the company's role in the sports industry.
- Thomas Oudart, Sales Director of UCPA
Thomas Oudart spoke about the Tokyo Olympics, one of the three major world events along with the FIFA World Cup and the Superbowl. He spoke about his exceptional career, including 3 World Cups of Football, a Basketball Cup and a Rugby Cup, 2 Olympic Games. He then joined UCPA where he has been working in Sales since 2020.
Employability and international scope at the heart of the MSc
The international aspect of the careers of each of the participants is central to the teaching of the MSc International Sport & Event Management. Many nationalities are present among the students as well as among the teaching staff. The course is also taught in English and experiences abroad are an integral part of the programme.
When asked about the profile required to join the FFT and UCPA, Stéphane Morel and Thomas Oudart were unanimous: an international scope is a real added value. Being confronted with discomfort, learning a language and developing a strong capacity to adapt are essential contributions to a young student's profile that will enhance his or her value in a recruitment process. Benjamin Causse shared this opinion, underlining however that France will also offer many opportunities in the coming years for graduates with the Rugby World Cup 2023 and the Olympic Games 2024, in addition to the major annual events.
