Chinese new year celebration & KEDGE activities in China

26/02/2021
On February 12, we entered the year of the metal Ox 金牛. The New Year's celebration will end on February 26 with the Lantern Festival, 元宵节 (Yuánxiāo jié). It pays tribute to the first full moon of the Chinese year, symbolized by lanterns that celebrate the light, dropped at night. It is also the tasting of filled sticky rice balls, which symbolizes the family reunion.

France in China

On the theme of “telling a story” this year, the 25th edition of the “month of Francophonie” in China will celebrate the richness of the French language, under the singer Ayanga’s sponsorship from March 1 to 31, 2021 in 20 cities in China.

Kedge activities in China

While Kedge activities in China date back to 2002 with the creation of the Part Time MBA in Shanghai in collaboration with the Antai College of Economics & Management at Jiao Tong University, KEDGE has, to date, signed academic partnership agreements with more than ten universities, located in mainland China, and among the most prestigious in the country. Moreover since 2015, the global MBA programme has a new partner,  Institute of Creative and Culture Industry  (ICCI) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

What distinguishes our institution is our participation in the creation of two Sino-French institutes, among about fifteen created from 2005 between actors of Chinese and French higher education.

The Sino-French Institute (IFC) of Renmin University of China, located on the Suzhou campus, and which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2020, was the first Sino-foreign institute of this kind in human and social sciences. The cooperation agreement, which brings together the universities of Paul Valéry Montpellier 3 and Paris Sorbonne, trains excellent Chinese students in a triple degree programme in five years. Each year, we receive more than 300 Bachelor and Master students on our Bordeaux and Marseille campuses. This agreement also provided to welcome one hundred Master students every year, mainly from the Grande Ecole Programme, for a one-semester exchange, the “Parcours Chine” offering a unique introduction to the contemporary Chinese society, with modules such as Contemporary Chinese Government and Politics, Chinese Commercial Law, Management of Global Corporations and the Chinese Business Culture.

With this experience and its Creative Industries Culture centre of expertise, KEDGE can be proud the creation of the Sino-French Institute of Arts and Design in Shanghai with the China Academy of Fine Art (CAFA)in 2015. It is one of the best art schools in the world. Opened in 2020, unique in the world in its original partnership between an art school and a management school, this IFC aims to train Chinese art students in cultural management professions for a booming Chinese market and sector. Ultimately, the ambition is to make the Institute a hub combining education, research and transversal projects to develop cooperation between France and China in the field of management of the arts, culture and creative industries.

The first class is welcoming 150 students this year in this dual degree course, including a bachelor in art and a bachelor in management, and the possibility of continuing in the fifth year with a master's degree in management and the MSc Arts & Creatives Industries Management in Paris. The programme, which takes place between Shanghai and Paris, is led by Professor Anne Gombault for the French part.

The Alumni network in China

Joining KEDGE also means choosing to join one of the largest networks of graduates across the planet with more than 71,000 members.

There are 2 Alumni branches in China, one in Shanghai (KaSH), under the responsibility of Miss SHU Lucie Tian, and the other in Beijing under that of Miss CHEN Grace. In addition to the 2 alumni branches, they are 10 alumni Clubs.

These  branches & clubs believe in the values of sharing information, creating new opportunities and taking charge of the community. Their goal is to bring KEDGErs together, wherever they are in the world, at social events (after-work, meals and excursions).
