Johannes Kraak, professor at KEDGE wins the best article prize at the 7th biennial conference of the Africa Academy of Management

Johannes Kraak, associate professor of Human Resources and Organisational Behaviour, and Head of the Sustainable Development Research Centre, won the best article prize at the 7th biennial conference of the Africa Academy of Management.

Best article award

Johannes Kraak, Associate Professor of Human Resources and Organisational Behaviour, and Head of the Sustainable Development Research Centre, participated in the 7th biennial conference of the Africa Academy of Management, held at the Stellenbosch Business School in Cape Town from January 8 to 10, 2024.

The article in question "Navigating the Effects of Abusive Supervision on Turnover Through Psychological Contract Breach Among Third Parties" won the prize for best article on the topic of Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources.

This research was carried out with the participation of Yannick Griep, Wieke Knol and Elizabeth Beekman from Radboud University (Netherlands).

The team was delighted by the recognition by their peers of the potential of this type of innovative research dedicated to the dynamics that exist between employees and their work environment.

African Management Academy 2024

The African Academy of Management aims to "foster the general advancement of knowledge and scholarship in management theory and practice among African scholars and/or scholars interested in management and organisation in Africa.

The topic of the 2024 conference was: “Transforming organisations in the digital age: Dignity, justice and prosperity in Africa”.

This topic served as a basis for establishing a forum for exchanging ideas and sharing research results to better understand how organisations in Africa are adapting to the transformations involved in globalisation and digitalisation.

Furthermore, the conference aimed to understand how the nature and contexts of work can be reimagined to foster sustainable employee management and promote dignity, justice and prosperity in the workplace for employees and their communities.

9 themes have been selected to allow academics from around the world to present their current research:

Johannes participated in the topic concerning organisational behaviour and human resources
management, he chaired a session and presented current research carried out with a team of
researchers from Radboud University in the Netherlands.
