4 priority objectives
- To guarantee access to campuses in compliance with health protocols
- To allow students to follow all the courses and activities necessary for the validation of their year
- To maintain an equally qualitative student service
- To ensure the continuity of our activities and services regardless the evolution of the health situation.
A rigorous health protocol
Since their reopening to staff in June, our campuses have adapted to the changing requirements of the health protocol decreed by our supervisory ministries (Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Ministry of Labour, Employment and Integration). Each campus is disinfected on a regular basis; safety distances apply in classrooms and all living areas; directions of circulation in common areas are imposed; masks are compulsory within each campus; hydroalcoholic gel dispensers are made available everywhere on our campuses. Finally, a repetitive poster reminding people to respect the barrier gestures is deployed and awareness and communication actions will be proposed from the start of the new school year.
The new school year will run for several weeks from August 31 to January 2021. We are following a progressive integration logic according to the students' profiles and their programmes, as well as their constraints. In order to ensure a return to school in the best possible conditions, we have chosen to mix face-to-face and distance learning.
A watchword: agility
Several scenarios are being considered as the situation evolves. All of them are based on a more or less important part of face-to-face and distant teaching.
This hybrid approach is necessary as it makes it possible for us to adapt to the evolution of the rooms and living spaces' capacity according to social distancing rules. It also takes into account that a certain number of students may not be able to be physically present (students who are ill or abroad).
We are able to move from one scenario to another with agility depending on the measures that will be imposed on us.
In addition to the hybridization of teaching, we plan to significantly develop hybridization of other activities and services: associative activities, work in small groups, tutoring, access to the resources of la Ruche and the Hub, employability, and reinforced support.
Essentially, we wish to give priority to a maximum amount of face-to-face teaching for all new students joining Kedge at the beginning of the academic year to enable them to discover their campus and facilitate their integration. For the other students, we are switching back and forth between face-to-face time and synchronous distanced time in virtual classes with their professors.
Possibilities of leaving for a partner university
In view of the health situation, we have redirected the international departures options to Europe only, in order to ensure maximum security for our students. However, taking into account the fact that health conditions can be very different from one country to another, including within the European Union, we give our students the choice to maintain their departure or to postpone it to the second semester. 900 students from all programmes were due to leave for a partner university in September, nearly 600 of them have chosen to maintain their departure to a European university. Other students either decided to postpone their departure or chosed a different path in France. We have nearly 300 partners, and this rich network made it possilble to relocate to Europe students who had initially opted for other destinations.
Welcoming international students
We have placed no restrictions and will be able, in compliance with health protocols, to welcome all international students who wish to join our campuses, whether in an exchange or to follow one of our programmes in full. However, in order to protect our entire community on our sites, we will ask each and every one of them before joining our campuses:
- Either to justify a test conducted between 3 and 7 days before their arrival
- Either to respect a period of isolation of 14 days once on the territory
We also offer international students access to their courses remotely for the vast majority of our programmes. They will thus be able to start their course from their home country until they are able to join our campuses in France.
Specific measures for students in internships or work-study programmes
For internships
- The internship in France or within the European Union and Schengen Area (including the United Kingdom) can only be done in person under certain conditions:
- If the student's health allows it
- If the company hosting the trainee guarantees that the health measures in force in the territory concerned are properly complied with.
- The international internship (outside Europe) can only be done remotely (teleworking). Exceptions may be made to allow this internship to be carried out in person:
- If the student is already resident in the country, subject to the restrictions of the Ministry of Europe and foreign affairs
- Only for countries in the green or yellow zone
- In compliance with the health measures in place in the country concerned.
- Other requests for face-to-face or mixed placements will be subject to a bipartite agreement between the school and the host organisation.
- Exceptionally, all students in the final year of the 2019-2020 curriculum may benefit from a final end-of-studies internship (refer to the programmes for conditions of application).
For work-study programmes
The school has shifted the majority of the start dates in order to give students more time to find a work-study programme and to sign a contract.
Depending on the programmes and under certain conditions, students who have opted for an apprenticeship can start their work-study programme without a company and conclude the contract at a later date.
Finally, for apprenticeship contracts, depending on the training programme, students will have the possibility of starting the work-study programme without a company and contracting later in the year, under certain conditions.
The internship/work-study department is on duty throughout the summer to respond to student requests and continues to set up their contracts.
